Program summaries should include information you have learned about a program, for example:

  • impressions of the PD, APDs, other faculty/attendings
  • impressions of the residents
  • culture of the program, pressure on residents to read quickly
  • exposure to procedures, how do readouts work, moonlighting available etc.
  • hospital characteristics: size, trauma, pediatric exposure, community/academic/mixed etc.
  • types/number of spots available, ESIR available
  • fellowship matches

Texas - Galveston
University of Texas Medical Branch Hospitals Program
Old facilities in most of radiology dept but new Jennie hospital is recently renovated and Chest Reading rooms are very nice. Old John Sealy hospital renovations planned soon. Residents seem happy. Very collegial environment with faculty. Can live in Houston, many off campus sites there where residents can read from. ESIR May be going away.
4th year independent moonlighting for residents in good standing, $1500 a day plus RVU bonus. About 5k for a 3 day weekend
