Program summaries should include information you have learned about a program, for example:

  • impressions of the PD, APDs, other faculty/attendings
  • impressions of the residents
  • culture of the program, pressure on residents to read quickly
  • exposure to procedures, how do readouts work, moonlighting available etc.
  • hospital characteristics: size, trauma, pediatric exposure, community/academic/mixed etc.
  • types/number of spots available, ESIR available
  • fellowship matches

Setting: New York City ranked #10 in Niche 2019 Best Cities for Young Professionals.

Chill program with laid back residents. New PD is receptive to resident feedback. Subsidized housing, unionized for salary/benefits/protected vacation/conference travel/meal stipends. Multiple locations throughout NY with 3-4 residents/site. No fellows.

Doximity ranked #24. Matches very strong each year. IR rotation at Sinai, which is arguably the best place for IR in NY.
Salary is sub-60k for NYC. Heavy call/nights in PGY-3. Pseudo-protected board studying time. Only 1-2 ESIR spots.
