Program summaries should include information you have learned about a program, for example:

  • impressions of the PD, APDs, other faculty/attendings
  • impressions of the residents
  • culture of the program, pressure on residents to read quickly
  • exposure to procedures, how do readouts work, moonlighting available etc.
  • hospital characteristics: size, trauma, pediatric exposure, community/academic/mixed etc.
  • types/number of spots available, ESIR available
  • fellowship matches

MedStar Health/Georgetown University Hospital Program
Awesome PD and Chair (Dr. Spies, former SIR pres). Great IR program, however DR may be lacking. M:F faculty ratio, will have new department building in 3-4 yrs, location in DC is superb.
Setting: Washington, D.C. ranked #5 in Niche 2019 Best Cities for Young Professionals. Arlington ranked #4. Alexandria ranked #9.

Cons: tough independent IR call, multiple Core exam failures in the past
