Virginia - Charlottesville
University of Virginia Medical Center Program
10/10, 09/27
10/28, 10/30, 11/6, 11/11, 11/13, 11/20, 12/9, 12/13, 1/8, 1/10
Yes, dinner at restaurant/external location
-Residents seem chill
-Dinner/alcohol night before
-Charlottesville/UVA is beautiful
-Small town feel (pop 45,000; maybe a con?)
-Level 1 trauma center, children's center, cancer center on campus
-Cheapish COL
-$1500 education fund/year
-AIRP paid for + housing at UVA apartment
Free healthcare for family and dependents
8 weeks parental leave for each new child
-Moonlight contrast reactions starting R2, $50/hr
-Not true independent call (studies are sometimes oversigned by MSK fellows at night)
-Undergraduate college town (?)
-25 fellows (ex. 8 MSK!)
-People tend to stay at UVA for fellowship (maybe a pro?)
-For pre dinner, you meet in the lobby of a hotel and then residents drive you to the dinner (kinda weird, but it was fine)
-One resident ate, drank, and ran during pre-interview dinner which felt weird.
Visit the downtown mall, such a pretty area!
